PDF Contract

I'm trying to create a contract that I can fill out most of the fields myself, different info for every client, and send to the client via email. I don't want them to be able to change the items I've filled out. I just want them to be able to sign their own signature area and their name and title area. It seems that the form field is either locked or not, and who's filling it out doesn't matter.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Dave

Hi Dave,

One way to do this would be to fill in the fields you want to, then flatten the PDF- this bakes ALL interactive fields into the PDF and they are no longer editable. Then you could add a signature field and whatever other fields you want the end user to be able to fill out. BE SURE to do this on a copy of your form, NOT the original since when you use the flatten function you CAN'T go back- you lose being able to use ANY interactive fields on the form you flatten.

Here is an article (video too) that discuss how to use the JavaScript flatten function-
http://www.acrobatusers.com/tutorials/2007/05/flattening_comments

If you do this on a regular basis my company makes a free utility that adds the flatten function to your toolbar- there is a link to download it at the bottom of that article.

Hope this helps,

Dimitri
