"Protected File"

I used Adobe Designer to make a PDF into a fillable form. Now I want to combine the file for this form with another PDF file (using Acrobat Professional 7.0), but when I try to add the form into a binder I get the error message: "The file is protected. It cannot be used for this command." I did not add any security to the file when I created it in Designer, so I do not know why I am getting this message. I have also tried opening the form's file in Acrobat to insert pages, but this option is greyed out and not available. How can I change this form to be "unprotected" so that I can add it to other PDFs?
Thanks!!

If you enabled Extened Reader Form Rights or used the Form Distribution feature of LiveCycle Designer, the form has protection applied to certain features of the form but not the standard protection but enough to cause lots of problems.

As for opening a LiveCycle Designer form in Acrobat, the basic structures of the PDF are different and prevent the combination of the PDFs. The LiveCycle Designer form is an XML document and enough PDF structure is added to disply the form and allow some scripting but nothing else.

Hey guys, sorry to bump this old topic, but I'm having this same issue.

I spent some time creating a form in designer (Professional 7) and when I attempted to merge it with other PDFs it gives me the same error that 'butterfly717' was receiving.

I understand the XML format is different, but is there no way at all to merge the docs?

Thanks for your reply.
