Put Button Caption in a Text field

I have Acrobat Professional 8.0 and I was wondering if there is a way for a text field to refelct the caption of a button. My date fields are all buttons, and when you click on the button, a calendar appears. Once the user selects a date from the calendar, the caption of the button changes to reflect that date. I would like that date to be entered into a text field. Is there any way to do that? I have searched this forum, and found strings that talk about this topic in LiveCycle, but I need to be able to do it in Adobe Pro.

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 8.0, Windows

getField("thetextfieldname").value = getField("theButtonName").buttonGetCaption();
