Hi,

I don't undestand: using a Reader-enabled PDF-form in Reader 10.1.1 I can see the "Extended Features" tool panel and the 2 "Forms" buttons: "Import Datas" and "Export Datas".

But they always stays disabled/grayed-out…

What must I do to enable them ?

Thanks.

My Product Information:
Reader 10.1, Macintosh

I would not be surprised if it were a bug…

Importing and exporting form data that way with Reader requires special usage rights that Acrobat cannot apply. The document will need to be enabled with LiveCycle Reader Extentions and applying the "Import and export form data" usage right. From the documentation:

"Import and export form data: Allows users to import and export form data as FDF, XFDF, XML, and XDP files. If you select this feature, Basic Form Fill-In is also automatically selected. When you select this usage right, you must also enable the Database and Web Service Connectivity usage right or the Embedded File Attachments usage right (depending on the usage rights required)."

George, do you mean that the PDF must be LiveCycle-enabled to make these features available in Reader ?
Since I can export-import datas using a simple form field button I very surprised…
???

I agree that it doesn't make a lot of sense since there are other ways to import and export form data, even if they're not quite as convenient.

Thanks George!
IMHO these 2 buttons should be hidden by default.

Agreed on this; these items should only be made visible if the document has the according rights.

For the records: a workaround is to set up the FDF, so that it points to the form. Then you can open the FDF, and it will populate the form.
