Reader user can't submit form

I've created a form in Acrobat Pro from a Word doc. I made sure the fonts were embedded and I haven't monkeyed around too much with settings. I used the Acrobat pro tool to set the fields and it set exactly the fileds that I wanted. I added a submit by eMail button to the bottom. It works fine for me, but when I email it to the guy who has to use it, it gives him an error that says "this operation is not permitted". He only has Acrobat reader. He hasn't even been able to get a pdf back yet so I'm not sure how that's going to work for him either.

Any ideas??

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 9.2, Windows

You need to 'enable usage rights' (under Advanced) for someone with Reader to be able to Submit a PDF (since it is just a different form of 'saving'

Using Acrobat Pro 6.0, I created a form with 6 text fields and a submit form button. Works fine on my Mac, when I open with Reader on Windows on PC, it gives "operation not permitted... " when "submit" button is clicked. All usage rights are allowed under "document properties." All fonts except a Helvetica are embedded.

Please don't be offended by this but are you maybe confusing security settings with usage rights? Your security settings may say enable filling in forms etc but unless Advanced>enable usage rights is applied Reader users will get the 'you will not be able to save' msg as soon as they open the file.I only say this because if you have done the 'enable' part correctly pc or mac shouldn't be a problem since it is pdf is a cross-platform format.

Also 'document properties' if you click the security tab it should clearly state at the bottom 'this doc restricts some features to allow for extended features in Acrobat Reader etc etc'

Hi mmazal,

Just an FYI- Enable Usage Rights is not an option (did not exist) in Acrobat 6 Pro.

Hope this helps,

Hi, I set up my form in Acrobat pro 9 and distributed it using our internal server. I did create it on a Mac. When another user on a windows computer opens and fills out the form in Reader, then hits submit, they get the following error message:
The data collection workflow has ended and data is no longer being accepted. Please contact the initiator with any questions.

However, I can receive form submissions when they are done on a mac using acrobat, like me....

Any clues? It looks like the form is enabled, but I don't see that as an option under advanced.

Can you find any further details about the form in Tracker?
