Hi all,
I've watched several of the (quite wonderful) tutorial videos, and scanned through the forum, and I haven't found this exact issue posted; my apologies if it's here and I missed it.
I recently created a form with LiveCycle Designer 8.2 and prepped it for distribution via acrobat.com with Acrobat Pro 9. It created the distributed file, and the response file. When I submit a form as a test, it correctly shows up in the response file. Awesome.
I have two issues holding me back from deploying this solution in my company:
1) What happens if the response file gets deleted? How do I recreate it?
Adobe help says you can create an answer file from inside of a received form, but if I can't access the responses that seems like something of a catch-22.
2) Where are the local copies of the form?
Adobe help says "responses are encrypted and stored on your hard drive as they are returned." Where?
Thanks all in advance for your help. Adobe form distribution seems SO CLOSE to being the coolest thing ever!
Great questions.
Answer #1
You can make a backup of the Responses file using the Archive option. Many people also like to export the data as CSV for a database or for Excel (which will open the CSV also). By default, the responses file is saved in the same folder as the original form and is named filename_responses.
1. In Acrobat, open the response file and select the data to export.
2. In the left navigation panel, click Export.
3. In the Select Folder To Save File dialog box, specify a name, location, and file format (CSV or XML) for the form data, and click Save.
Answer #2
Your local copy of the form is wherever you saved it, the data goes back and forth through a server (typically Acrobat.com) and that is sent as an FDF (Forms Data Format) to the tracker. You don't get individual PDFs of the forms back, unless you built a Submit button yourself and set that action.
Here is where the tracker data is stored:
Vista/Win 7
C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat\9.0\Forms
Win XP
C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\9.0\Forms

On a side note, I would make sure your Acrobat is up to date. Acrobat 9 is at 9.4.6.
