Restoring data in a saved fillable form

I have a fillable form from the Louisiana Department of Revenue. I am running Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro and have completed the form using this program. I saved the form but when I reopen it, the data flashes briefly and then all the fields clear. Is there any way to restore the data so it may be worked on more and/or printed?

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 9.0, Windows

Can you provide a link to the form? It's possible that it's set up to reset the form when it's opened.

The form is located at http://www.revenue.louisiana.gov/forms/taxforms/CIFT620(WEB)(1_10)F.pdf and I had saved a local copy once completed. The information must still be there as it flashes on the screen when I open the local copy. But the fields immediately clear.

That form does indeed reset itself when opened. Since it's not protected with security, you can remove the JavaScript that's in the Page Open action of page 1.

The form has a reset script on the first page it opens. This is intentional, in order to ensure privacy when the data is cached, and the machine is used by different users.

The form does not have Extended Rights for saving in Reader, therefore, I assume that you are using an Acrobat full version (Standard, Pro).

If you have Pro, you can open the page properties of the first page, and remove the pageOpen script. Then, the form will no longer reset.

You should check each page of the PDF. This form and other forms from this organization, has a 'page open' action that resets the entire form as each page is opened until the form has been cleared. There is a document level variable called 'bReset' that is set to false when the PDF is opened. If this value is not 'true' when any page is opened, then the form is reset and the variable 'bReset' is set to 'true'. It would be easier to set the variable at the the document level to 'true'. The variable is set in the "Main" document level script.

You might want to notify the Louisiana Department of Revenue about this issue. They could provide a not-printable button to allow users to clear the form as needed. They could also provide a 'print' button.

If you did not want to modify the scripts, then you could export the values before closing the form.

For an 11 page long form dealing with accounting and tax information, this type of action is not very professional, as many of these type of forms are not completed in one seating.

Is it possible to delete the pageOpen script and somehow recreate the fields that have been cleared? My problem is that the form is completely filled out but I wanted it reviewed before I printed it. Every time I open the file, it clears my work (which took a full day to complete - I didn't realize that every time I saved it while working on it, it wasn't truly saving as I never closed the file all day). If I remove the Javascript that runs when the page opens, that's fine for subsequent times I complete this form but I still do not have the information that I am trying to restore. Any suggestions?

I agree with George Kaiser above - ludicrous that Louisiana Department of Revenue would have a form like this available that you cannot save and continue to work on. Very unprofessional.

Just disable JavaScript (Edit > Preferences > JavaScript) before you open the form. It will not get reset and you can then remove the script.

That is brilliant - I have all my information restored! Thank you very much! I certainly did not relish having to recreate this filled form.
