I'm a form author using Professional 8.0. I would like to make the forms fillable for the rest of the office staff, who are also all using the Professional version. I would like them to be able to fill out the form, and save the data, BUT cannot edit the layout. Is there a similar function as "Enable Usage Rights in Acrobat Reader" for Acrobat Professional? I've considered putting a password security on these forms to prevent editing, but then the staff can't save them. It is not an option to force all staff to use Acrobat Reader, since our office uses Acrobat Professional frequently (We are an architecture office and need the flexibility/functionality of Professional).
There are different types of security in PDF documents. Under the File --> Properties menu in Acrobat 8 select the Security tab. Under Security method select "Password". Under the Permissions section of this panel check the box to "Restrict editing and printing of the document ..." Enter a password.
Under the "Change allowed" drop down menu select "Filling in form fields and signing existing signature fields."
This will allow end users to fill in form fields but not edit your document.
Hope this helps,
Lori
