Save form as regular PDF

New Acrobat form-maker here. Once a form has been filled out, is there a way to save it as a regular, noneditable PDF?

We have a form that will need to be filled out multiple times, and then we want to save all the form sheets in one PDF. We want the form fields to be deactivated so that the final data can't be changed. Saving all the filled-out forms as a package does combine them into one file, but all the forms are still editable.

The only solution that seems to do what we want is to save all the individual forms as JPGs and then pull them back into one PDF.

Does anyone have a more elegant solution?

Thanks! :)

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 8.1.2, Windows

Try this.

Assemble the forms into your package.

Then; with the package on the screen, choose File>PropertiesLook at the Security Tab.

There, you can choose the level of security you want so that the package can't be edited. That should do it!

Hope this helps!!

Thanks for the response!

That's kind of what I was looking for, but even with the permissions set to "no changes allowed," the forms in the package can still be edited and the package saved under a different name.

I think we'll have to go with PDF-to-JPG-to-PDF conversion to make sure the final document is completely noneditable.

Try one more thing first...which is; as you get the forms back....change the security on each form; and then save that. Then assemble the individual forms into your package and save again with tight security.....

Worth a try...? Depends on what is faster.

Wait! I had a better idea....just print each received form as a PDF! It then is a regular, flat file, PDF, with filled out form fields; but then....not at all editible. It's just a file.

The alternate: Assemble your package; print it as a PDF with a new name of course. It'll just be a flat file like any PDF of a book or magazine. Add whatever security you want or need.

So...hope that works for you.....

From the JavaScript Debugging console, one can run the "this.flattenPages()" and save the PDF. This will result in a better PDF than refrying the PDF. One could also add a menu option to provide the flatten pages furnciton or install the AbracadabraTOOLS 2.5 , http://www.abracadabrapdf.net/articles.php?lng=en&pg=15 .
