Saving Form Field Contents for Reviewing Later

Hello Ted,

Thank you for your directions regarding saving form field entries. I enabled usage rights in acrobat 8. I then opened the same fillable form in Reader 8. I entered the data and used "save as" to rename the completed form using a different name, but when I reopened it again it was blank. Did I follow the right steps? Could I send you a copy of the form? Maybe the problem lies in the form... Thank you in advance.

My Product Information:
Reader 8, Windows

Using Save As and Save are identical in Reader. Just be certain to not use Save a Copy. When you choose Save As are you using the default Adobe PDF Files as the file format?

Do you see the File > Save command? Your first clue that a file is not enabled properly is to look at the File menu after filling in a filed and tabbing out of it. If the word Save does not appear in the menu, then something went awry with enabling the form.Did you use the Advanced > Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader command? Using the Comments menu won't grant saving form data privileges in Adobe Reader.ted

Hi Ted,
Yes, when "saving as" I saved it as a pdf file. After filling the data in the fields and tabbing out, I see "Save" as an option, and I did click on it. On Acrobat, I did use Advanced->>Enable Usage rights in Adobe Reader command.
The document did say at the top, "Please fill out the form. You can save the data typed into this form." Yet when I open the document in reader, fill it out, and save it, close the document, and re-open later, all of the data is erased. Please advise. Thank you again.
