I am being asked to create a form to be use with Reader- not hte full app, for incermental and onging use. For example, can a user- with only Acrobat Reader fill in a form partially today, then 'save as' and continue to add and modify data on an ongoing basis?
What are the proper tools or extension to do this- if its even possible? Can you point me to a working example?
Yes, a PDF form can be filled and saved to a local machine using the free Adobe Reader, BUT ONLY if you create the form in Acrobat 8 Professional and apply Reader Usage Rights to it. This is a new feature of Acrobat 8 Pro so it isn't available with earlier versions of the full Acrobat product.
Here are links to some articles here at AUC that explain what Reader Usage Rights are and how to apply them.
