Secure Forms on Return

I have Acrobat Professional 8, and I would like to send a form to a group of people and have them fill it out and submit the data back to me. As the data may contain sensitive information, I would like to have the data encrypted. There is a check box that is grayed out that says "Secure Forms on Return". The Adobe tip says that I need a Digital ID, and it gives me a button to "Get Digital ID from Adobe Partner". When I follow that link, it takes me to a complicated maze of PDF security providers, all focused around digitally signing a document to confirm to an end user that it was created by me (not encrypting PDF form data). I have set up a Self-Signed Digital ID, and the box is still grayed out. As the GeoTrust certificate that the tip points me to is $595, and I am not certain that it would accomplish what I need, I would appreciate insight from anyone who has encountered this. Thanks.

UPDATE: I used the "Ask an Expert" feature, and Eugene Williams informed me that I could purchase a Verisign Id for $19.95. I did, and it shows up in my Digital ID list in Acrobat, but the box for "Secure Form on Return" is still gray. HELP!

Hi Folks,

Somehow, my last post didn't really get posted? So, here it is again.

I have exactly the same problem as dewinit. Ms. Kassuba didn't answer
his question. I have a case submitted with Adobe on this issue.

I noticed that there was another woman with the same question and she didn't get an answer either.

Has anyone been able to get the "Secure forms on return" checkbox to work in Acrobat/LiveCycle Designer 8.1?

I've got the exact same question as this fellow:

Which was addressed, but did not get answered.

Thanks!

UPDATE:
Adobe says that you have to get a "GeoTrust" brand digital certificate to use the "Secure forms on return" feature. It's $19.95 per year. You can read about it here, although this documentation doesn't say anything
about returned information; they (GeoTrust) tell me that it will be secure both ways.

http://www.geotrust.com/products/client_certificates/my_credential.asp "my credential"

They have a 7-day return policy, if it doesn't work right.

As you mention above and I've noted in the following post, you'll need a certified document service (GeoTrust) to perform the "Secure forms on return" feature in Acrobat 8.
