I created a form on Adobe Acrobat X Standard. I opened it on another computer that just has Adobe Reader 9, I filled in all the fields, then clicked the submit button, but it tells me... This operation is not permitted.

I tried updating the Adobe Reader 9 to Adobe Reader X and it will not work either.

What have I done wrong?

To help you see my vision...
I am creating a boarding admitance form for clients to fill out on our website, then (hopefully) click submit and have it e-mail the full pdf document to me. My web guy told me there was no way to have a submit button, he said the client would have to save the pdf & attach it in an e-mail. This seems to difficult & I am sure some clients would not do it.

Thanks for any help you can give!

You have to Reader-enable the document if it needs to work with Reader. To do this in Acrobat 10, select: File > Save As > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Additional FeaturesIf you set up the submit action using a mailto type URL, it will attempt to initiate an email with the complete PDF attached. The user will also have the option of saving locally and manually attaching the document to an email. Note that the automatic email part may not work for some users due to email client and/or setup issues.

The alternative is to set up the form to submit to a web server and program the web server to do the job of attaching the PDF to an email message. This is a far more reliable approach and allows it to be done securely, unlike email. You'll just need someone to do the programming. It's fairly straightforward and simple, so it's certainly possible, assuming your web server is capable.
