Hi,

I created a form in Acrobat Professionnal 6. The submit button works fine. When I open it in Reader 8 which I'm assuming most will be doing, it does not work. When I click on it it says "This operation is not permitted". What do I need to do to make this work?

Sounds like you have "PDF the complete document" selected in the Submit buttons properties. You can only submit the data not the complete PDF. If you need to submit the complete document you'll need to use Acrobat Pro.8 and Reader-enable your PDF. To change your button properties you can do the following:

1. Right-click the Submit button and choose Properties.

2. Select the Actions tab.

3. In the Actions pane, select Submit a form and click Edit.

4. In the Submit Form Selections dialog, choose an option other than PDF The complete document, and then click OK and Close.

5. Resave the file.

The operative word is "Reader". Reader is just a reader. To submit a form by email, the form first has to be saved and Reader can do this. The only forms that can be saved by Reader have to have special rights applied to the form and Acrobat 6 can not do this. One needs at least Acrobat 8 Professional, a LiveCycle Server product or pay a 3rd party to apply the special rights.
