hi community of acrobat users,

in Photoshop i created an image with no background (gif, png).
If i import it into Acrobat Pro 8 the transparent background is shown as white.
Why my transparent background is shown as white and not shown with the usual grey background color ?

I can change the background shown as white to a chessboard view : Preferences > Page Display > Show transparent grid
But why does the transparent background (gif, png) in Photoshop doesn't change to the grey background in Acrobat ?
Please Help!

thx !

but the background color of Acrobat Pro and the background color of Acrobat Reader are different.
Same with OSX Preview.
To use a transparent paper background makes the content of the file independent of the PDF Viewer.

Does anyone in the "Adobe Acrobat User Community" understand the layer concept of Acrobat ?

Last time! Please help!

Maybe my English is too bad, so i try it again:

First: I create a transparent page background in Photoshop (PSD,gif, png).
Second: When the file is opened in Acrobat9 the transparent part of my page is shown with a white or a chessboard
background. (depends on the settings: Preferences > Page Display > Show transparency grid)Why Acobat does not give me the underlying grey color ? How can I get the underlying grey color ?

If you create a PSD file as a layer with transparency and use methods such as copy/paste or open the file, Acrobat won't show you the transparency. You can add an image with transparency saved as PNG or GIF using the TouchUp Object tool. Right click (to open a context menu using the TouchUp Object tool) and choose Place Image. Select the file format (PNG or GIF) and import the file. It's not clear to me what you want with the grid or gray color. If you want a background color of gray or a grid resembling the transparency view, you need to create it as a background in Photoshop.

Thank you very much !

I wanted to make a PDF that looks like a book (not a flipping book).
For this task i need the first page (cover) and the last page (back) as single pages. The rest of the PDF are spreadsheets (double size in length).
The Problem with Acrobat is that single pages (cover, back) are moved to the center automatically. (Thats why I cannot import a pdf with smaller size!)
But to get a PDF that looks like a book the cover has to be on the right and the back needs to be on the left side.

I tried to solve the problem and deleted half part of the spreadsheet with Photoshop .The result was that one half of the spreadsheet
was transparent and the other half was white (Cover,Back).

But when i open the (png, gif) as a new document in Acrobat the transparent background is white again ;-(
