Unique Number on a PDF form that is access through the web

Hi,

I've seen where this question has been asked many different times with slightly different answers with individuals using different Adobe Acrobat versions. So I'll ask it again as it relates to Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. Given that Acrobat can be used to develop forms, there should be base code that will allow users to add this unique id required for internal controls purposes.

I would like to create a form that will be access from the web. Each time a person clicks on the PDF icon, the form opens with a unique id. The next time the PDF icon is clicked the document reference has increased by one.

I've been on different websites and I have seen where one organization has been able to do this with their travel claims.

Any idea how this can be done?

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 9.0, Windows

It has to be controlled by the server. The server would have to determine the next valid number to use and somehow fill-in a form field or otherwise include the number in the PDF. As you've seen, there are a number of different ways this can be accomplished, so which one you choose depends on your circumstances.
