what happens if I choose a font and use it in a form, and the user downloads my PDF form, and doesn't have the said font installed? Is something else displayed?

how can i be sure the font I choose displays in their system?

and how can I use uncommon fonts?

Acrobat Pro 7.0, Macintosh

Hi scd,

I think you are asking about "form fields." Adding a form field and choosing a font should automatically embed the font in the PDF. If the font is embedded then the end user will see that font even if it is not installed on their system.

However, keep in mind there are some fonts that cannot be embedded into a PDF because the makers of the font have not provided permission to Adobe for embedding- I don't have a list of those for you- sorry. There are likely thousands of fonts that can be sued and thousands of fonts that can't, and the list may change over time too.

Hope this helps,

Dimitri
