white text field shows fields below it

I am using a white text field to cover a section of fields that i don't want to use on a form I am making, but even with the background color set to white, I can still see all the fields below the ext field, it's like the field is transparent even though the background color is white. I've tried making new "cover" fields, deleteing and re-creating the fields below the cover and everything else I can think of. Has anyone seen this before and how do you fix it so that the cover field actually covers the stuff under it?

Hi,

It should be more reliable to show/hide those fields instead of placing a white dumb field to cover them…

Yes, I know and when I can do that I do, but in this instance the fields cannot be hidden that way. Mainly because one field appears three times but I only want to see it once depending on a previous step.

I run into this all the time, there has to be a simple solution that I just don't know about.

In AcroForms fields with the same name share the same properties. If you have a field whose data is repeated several times within the form, but you want to control the display of the different occurrences, then you need to create a different field name and populate the other occurrences with some additional code.

I know that too, but the fields have to have identical names because they are importing data from a database and the databse needs to know what field to poulate. In this instance all 3 fields should show the same value, but only two should be visible. That is why I can't hide them using the convemntional method, and that is why I can't give them different names.

I just need to know why a text field with a white fill color is showing the fields underneath it.

Was this form created with LiveCycle Designer?

If so then the form fields behave very differently.

Are you sure it's white and not transparent? Check the properties of the field.

Yes, it's white. I've checked it 1000 times. How do you pose a screenshot on this thing? I'll show yo what I am talking about. It's hard to explain.
