I would like to be able to follow the instruction in the "Creating buttons for PDF navigation" in the tutorials. However, the first step say "Open the Forms toolbar." I can't find any way to do that.

I have one of the pdf files in a portfolio opened and I'd like to add a simple button at the top to return to a simple page of menu items that I've created.

How do I do that? What am i missing in the menus to open a forms toolbar? I thought that I might be able to turn on various toolbars in the Windows menu, but I don't find anything there either.

Thanks for any help you can give me,

Right-click the toolbar menu (where the Open, Save, etc. buttons are located) and tick Forms.

I have 2 toolbar menus. One says "File Edit View Document Comments Forms Tools Advanced Window Help" The other contains a collection of icons, mostly to navigate through the portfolio files, but also to print and a couple more. Right clicking on both of these bars does nothing at all. The Forms menu includes just "Compile Returned Forms...", "Track forms..", "Highlight fields.." (Grayed out), "Clear Form" (grayed out), and "Quotebooks" which links to a submenu.

I still see no way to create a button, or to open a forms toolbar.

Thanks for you suggestion, but I some more help on this. I'm new to acrobat pro, so I hope I'm simply missing something simple.

Might I need to use Adobe LiveCycle Designer to create a a simple button at the top of a pdf page to go back to a menu in another pdf file in the portfolio? I If so, are there any instructions available anywhere on how to do this?

Thanks.

You should have a menu option of "View" with a "Toolbars" with an option for "Forms" - check this item. You will need an open PDF to use the form tools. You should also be able to place the mouse on an open space on the toolbar and use the right mouse click to select the 'Forms' option.

You can also create forms with LiveCycle Designer.

Once you start a form in LiveCycle Designer, you can not switch to Acrobat. If you start a form in Acrobat, you can open the PDF form in LiveCycle Designer but all of your scripts and actions will be disabled and you will need to redo them using the LiveCycle Designer scripting format.
