Designer files will be a little larger than PDF forms created in Acrobat in most cases. Unfortunately, you can't use the PDF Optimizer in Acrobat to reduce file size.
The way to keep your form designs small is to minimize the number of fields, subforms, scripts, and all other elements that add overhead to the file. After conversion to PDF, you don't have much choice for reducing file size.
