Basic Form Creation

Hey Community - LTRFTP

At our organization we have many forms in word (not interactive obviously), and are looking to switch over to interactive PDF's where the client fills it out and then pushes e-mail and like magic we got it. These forms are updated rather regularly. When I initially tried converting, I selected use an existing form and brought it in to Adobe that way. However, when I did so, I could not change the text that was initially put in word. Does this mean that I will have to re-create each form in Adobe if I want to be able to adjust the wording of the form? Or is there some other solution? Thanks for your time.

Hi!

You can create an "ordinary" Acrobat PDF from distiller printer, i.e. not a LiveCycle PDF.
Then you make the fields in Acrobat, and if you want to update the form you can easily duplicate fields from a PDF form into another one

You can create forms with either Acrobat AcroForm tool bar in Acrobat or LiveCycle Designer.

You can create a PD from Word with the PDF printer or the PDF Converter tool bar button. You can then open the created PDF with Acrobat and add the fields using the Forms tool bar or use the "Run Field Recognition" tool.

With LiveCycle Designer you can import the Word doc or the PDF created from the Word doc and then add the form fields or run the Form Field Recognition.

There are tutorials, articles, and eSeminars on demand at this site that should help you get standard.

You will need Acrobat 9 standard (Acrobat forms only) or better or Acrobat Professional version 6, 7, 8, or 9 to create forms with Acrobat or LiveCycle Designer.
