Can't save data in Reader 7

Hi everyone! :)

The problem is: I can't save data when I open my form in Adobe Reader 7, even if I apply usage rights in Acrobat Professional before.
But in Adobe Reader 8, it works!

Can anyone help me, please?

I designed a form into Livecycle with a drop-down-list dynamically populated from a data source (XML file).
After the design be done, I opened the form in Acrobat Professional and attach the XML file by the menu "Forms > Manage form data > import data".

Then I apply usage rights in Acrobat, to enable saving in Reader.

As I said, it works fine in Reader 8: I can choose any item from drop-down-list and save the form. But in Reader 7, it doesn't.

Thanks in advance.

Hi --

Check the compatibility of the file you are saving. You need to save the file in a format available to Adobe Reader 7. From Live Cycle Designer, choose File > Save As and select a lower Acrobat version -- such as Acrobat 7 or even Acrobat 6 -- from the Save as type dropdown list.donna.

Hello Donna, thanks for your answer.

But in "Save as" window, there is no option you mentioned. It's just "File Name" and "Save as type", which has "Adobe Dynamic XML form, Adobe Static PDF form, Adobe XML form and Adobe Livecycle Designer Template".

The compatibility I can see in File > Form Properties > Defaults tab > Target Version. But even doing this, when I try to do in Reader 7, it doesn't works! But see, I removed the Data Connection I had in my form, and now it works in Reader 7!!!

Do you or someone else know if there is any problem using Data Connection and Saving option in Reader 7?

People, thanks again!

Diego - Have you checked your dropdown list settings? Make sure in your field's Object>Binding>Default Binding tab, that it is set to "Normal". This should allow you to save your data after you've re-enabled user rights in Pro.Otherwise, I'm not certain why Donna's suggestion above isn't working. Try saving as a Dynamic XML.

Hope that helps!

Hello Formfingers, thanks for your reply.

In Donna's suggestion there isn't any compatibility option in File>Save as...
As I said, just the options to save as Dynamic os Static form. But this is not the problem. I did it also. I set the compatibility in File>Form Properties > Defaults tab > Target Version, and saved the form as Dynamic XML form, as you said.Anyway, you're right when you said to check the binding settings. But when I define a DataConnection, all the form's fields shows a warning: "Field AAAA may not work properly. Using NORMAL data binding when a Data conection is defined may produce undesirable results". Why it happens?

People, tanks again!!
