I have an invoice that is dynamic (digital signature required. I want to be able to attach static pdfs to it and still be able to email the entire package. I want them to be able to review the documents, sign the dymanic form with their digital signature and click on the email button to return the entire package back to me. I have tried and only am able to see the original document in the package. Most users will only have reader. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks, Anne

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 8.1.2, Windows

Hi Anne,

A couple of pointers, if you are using Acrobat then you can add files to the form as attachments. To do this you can script a button or use the Attachment panel. Please note that once you have applied the digital signature, you cannot add any more attachments.

Also users with Reader cannot add attachments unless the form has been Reader Enabled with the full LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES2. In addition users with Reader will not be able to submit the form by email, again unless it has been Reader Enabled before it is sent out.

When you are taking about a package, are you referring to a portfolio or a PDF with attachments.

Hope this helps,

Niall

Hi goldie6175,

Just to chime in here regarding terminology- in Acrobat Pro 8 a collection of PDFs put together using File- Combine Files is a PDF Package ("Combine files in to a PDF Package" is one of the options in the Combine dialog). In Acrobat 9, Adobe changed the terminology to PDF Portfolio, which is basically the same thing as a PDF Package but with the ability to add a custom cover sheet, aka Navigator.

Since you say you have Acrobat 8- have you tried File ->Combine Files, and followed the instructions to create a Package? Once you have the files compiled in the package, if you add an email submit button to the Parent document (the one used for the Coversheet), when that is clicked it will email the entire package.Hope this helps,

Dimitri

Thanks Niall and Dimitri. A couple of comments and questions. Is there somewhere I can upload this document so someone could see it? Might make more sense.

1. If I create the invoice and then try to attach the supporting pdfs (basically packing lists) to it, Acrobat won't let me do it because the Invoice was created as an xml document.

2. Dimitri, I guess you are saying that I can't create a custom cover page or modify the existing one with Acrobat 8, right? I am thinking that if I had a custom cover page with the email button on it, instead of on the invoice (which I guess I could just make the cover page, maybe? That would solve my problem?

Thanks again, Anne

Hi Anne,

Darn, I do see that you can't use a LiveCycle Designer PDF form as the cover page. But yes, you can have a custom cover page with instructions and a Submit button (set to email the entire PDF (mailTo:xxx [at] xxx [dot] com)). When that submit button is used the whole PDF package is attached to the email, including the LiveCycle PDF. I just tried it and it worked for me.Hope this helps,

Dimitri

Thanks. I created a new cover page with a submit button, but when I replace the current cover page with the one I created, the submit button disappeared. Aarrggg!!!! (oops, did I say that out loud?). I currently don't have Acrobat X installed on my machine, so I am running back and forth doing this. Very frustrating!
