I'm trying in the same form to have some drop down lists (with the option for the end user to enter custom text), as well as some text fields where the box extends to fit the content. If I save the form as a dynamic form, the text field extends but free text cannot be used in the drop down, and if I save as a static form it's the other way round!
Is there a way around this?
I use Adobe Designer 7.0
- you're using Acrobat 7.0 and Designer 7.0
- you've checked the "Allow Custom Text Entry" property on "Object palette > Field tab" for the drop down list
- you've checked the "Expand to fit" properties on the Layout palette for the text field (and if for height, you've set the text field's "Allow Multiple Lines" property on the "Object palette > Field tab")
- you've saved your form as a "Dynamic PDF Form File"
then there seems to be a bug in Acrobat 7.0 that doesn't retain a custom text entry you enter in the drop down list if it doesn't match one of the items in the list.
You should certainly be able to have both a drop down list with custom text entry and an expandable field on the same form.
Upgrading to Acrobat 7.0.5 (free) will fix the bug with the drop down list.
