Decimal Places in Form Fields

I am a somewhat experienced user of Acrobat Professional (mostly version 6.x), but am new to LiveCycle.

I have created several fill-in enabled forms and everything works great except for one thing...numeric fields with decimal places. I want to allow a user to enter "12335" and have it display as "123.35" (without the need to enter the decimal point). I have tried seemingly every combination of display patterns and edit patterns, as well as using decimal fields instead of numeric fields. However, I cannot find a solution that works.

I am quite frustrated, because I know if the field was built within Acrobat (instead of LiveCycle), I could simply choose the decimal places from the formatting dialog box and the field would exhibit the behavior I am looking for.

So...is there way to do this and I am just missing it? Or, alternatively, is there a way to "turn off" LiveCycle so I can create and edit forms directly within Acrobat in order to take advantage of the "easier" functionality?

You could script the addition of decimal places, but I would caution against it. What happens if the user wants to enter 100 and just types "100"? A script or autoformat would convert the entry to 1.00.

All the old form tools are still in Acrobat. See Acrobat Help on how to use them.
