Is it possible to select an option from a dropdown list and have an image be displayed that is associated with that selected option. Please advise urgently. Thank you for your kind help.

You can accomplish this with Javascript. Thom Parker has an article that details this functionality titled "Changing Another Field with Combo Box (Drop Down) Selection" at:
