I am making a form that has interactive checkboxes. I understand that I am suppose to save it as a dynamic form for it to work. However, when I go to save as and click on the drop down to pick the Adobe 8 (dynamic).pdf I do not see it. Is there something else I am suppose to do?

My Product Information:
LiveCycle Designer, Windows

Hi gdesrosiers,

What options do you have available in the "Save as Type" dropdown list?
(besides not having the Acrobat 8 (Dynamic) XML Form (*.pdf) )

Hope this helps,

Dimitri

On menu File > Form Properties > Defaults Tab - Check if the target version is Reader 7.0.5 or later. After try to save as Dynamic XML Form.

There was nothing on the Default Tab about a version. However, on the other tabs there were.

Info
Creator: Acrobat PDF Maker 8.1 for Word
Producer: Acrobat Distiller 8.1.0 (Windows)
Version: 1.5

Compatability
Form Type: Acrobat 6 (Static) PDF Form
Text Formatiing: Version 7
Event Model: Version 7

Is this what I need to look for?

Yes, you should change the form type compatibility.
Take a look on my screen, the Defaults tab that I mentioned:

Is the same that yours?

I do not have the Target Version listed on my defaults tab. Does this mean that my version is older.

I had done this about three months ago and it worked. Could it be interference from loading Microsoft 2007? Or could it be because the document was made into a pdf from the Acrobat add on in Word 2007 instead of regular Acrobat Professional?

I really don't know about the add on in Word 2007, but if you said that you did, try to do again in the same way. It would better if you'll do using the Adobe Professional or LiveCycle Designer.

Post a print screen of what are you trying to do. What version of Adobe LiveCycle Designer are you using?

Ok now I feel really stupid. I can't insert an image here and don't know how to set it up so you can see what I am trying to do.

Ok no problem. Do as I did above, you can host an image at ImageShack and post the direct link here.

I can't post an image on that type of website. My company has it blocked.

I am using Live Cycle Designer 8.0.

I looked on the default tab like your image showed (I had IT download the image for me) and we do not have all the tabs that you showed.

Our default tab does not have the Target section.

I really don't know how I can help you at this moment. Do you have an instant messenger?

No. Our company does not allow IMs.

Ok. I'll keep looking through the adobe training areas to see if I can find something.

Thank you for your help.

Hey,
I've just found that the Target Version is only available on Livecycle 8.1 or later

In LiveCycle go to form properties-defaults-preview and change from print to interactive. Now you can save as staic or interactive and the target version is at just below the preview type.

That didn't work either.

Can you tell me if I have to save the Word file a special way before making into a pdf in order for this to work?????

Did you import your PDF as artwork or convert the PDF to XML originally? PDFs converted to XML (a lossy process) can be made flowable or multicast; however, importing a PDF document as background artwork can not be made flowable (dynamic).

We make the document originally in Word or EXcel and the turn it into a PDF. From there we click on Forms>Create New Form and then walk through the steps the system has. It puts it into Live Cycle Designer and we go from there.

On the Wizard that walks you through creating a new form based on importing a PDF, there is a screen that prompts you with one of the following:
- Create an Interactive Form with Fixed Pages
- Create an Interactive Form with Flowable Layout

The first option (default) will create a form that cannot be made dynamic and the second will allow you to create a flowable (dynamic) form. However, the second option is a lossy process so you might lose some information.

I'm having the same problem. The document started in Word and I used the Wizard to pull it into LiveCycle. However, I get that message about the background artwork. It won't allow me to save ad Dynamic, however, we have it posted on our website and it is still a fillable form. Why is that?

The only problem I had was the email submit button. This button shouldn't be used is you're wanting to do more with a button when submitting forms. Use a regular button with scripting instead.
Thanks!
