Form works in Acrobat 8 Pro but not in Reader

I have designed a dynamic form in Livecycle and have been testing it using the preview feature.

To my horror, when I opened the form in Reader, I found it does not work.

Can anybody help me? Is there something simple I can do to make the form work in Reader as it does in Acrobat?

Many Thanks.

Maybe it is me but surely it is reasonable to expect the readable features of Acrobat Pro 8 to mirror Adobe Reader 8?

Can you expain what specifically does not work in Reader. Otherwise, it's too general of a question for someone to answer.

If you are speaking of not being able to fill out a form, then it's because you need to 'Enable user Rights' from Acrobat first.

Thanks Scott.

There is a javascript on the enter event of each form field that highlights the field orange.

This works okay in Acrobat Pro.

But, in Reader, although the field is highlighted in orange, it wil not allow a value to be entered.

When I remove the javascript from the event, there is no problem entering a value.

I can send an example if anybody is interested.

Many Thanks.

Okay, I've also noticed that everytime I enter a field, the page numbers increase by two.

There must be a problem with the script but it passes the Javascript debugger and as I say, it works okay in Acrobat Pro.

In that case, I would be surprised that Reader would act differently. I'll take a look if you post your pdf.

Update:

Scott took at look at my .pdf and it worked for him in Reader 8.00.

I have tried it in Reader 8.00 and 8.01 without success.

Where can I be going wrong?

Thanks all.

Also, in livecycle, look in the File, Form properties, Default tab and check your 'Preview type'. Make sure it's set to Interactive.

Thanks Scott.

Further update:

I just downloaded the latest updates for Acrobat Pro and Adobe Reader.

Now my .pdf fails in Acrobat Pro too.

I think I was testing it in Acrobat Pro 8.0 and Adobe Reader 8.1 hence the different result.

My problem now is finding out why it works in version 8.0 but not the latest 8.1. I'll post this in the Adobe forum too.

Thanks.
