Hide Form parts on email

Hello

I need ideas on how to hide parts of a form when it is emailed but to allow the user of the form to still see the entire form.

We need to send our form to some of our clients but we do not want them to see some parts of the form. I have read where you can hide buttons when sending by email but can you hide subforms? Any examples of or a link to where others have discussed this would be great.

Would it be possible for the user to get back these parts of the form?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I'm not sure that's possible. One workaround is to design a client version of the form without the parts you don't want them to see; export the data from the user's filled-out form, and import it into the client form. This can be done in Acrobat, using Forms | Manage Form Data | Export Data and Forms | Manage Form Data | Import Data.

Thanks for the reply.

How about instead of email these options:

Is it possible to consolidate text in one Text Field from a Table
with Add Row capabilities? I have Table that has add row/Remove Row
functionality. I know you can consolidate text in in one text field.
Is it possible to do this with a table that has text field rows added.
Can added row text be consolidated in 1 text box?

How about using the hidden page option. Making a page invisible that
has a copy of the subform on it. The user clicks a button and it hides
the other pages with a Save As script that will pop up so the user
will save the form and not overwrite the original?

Any other ideas?

Answering the second question first:
I believe that to hide and reveal elements, the form must be saved as a dynamic XML form rather than a static PDF form. Showing and hiding is done at runtime, and you can't save the hidden condition. When you open the file after SaveAs, your hidden elements will be shown as though you'd never clicked the hide button.

I dealt with this problem once in backward fashion, by creating a form with only the client parts visible, and a [visible] password field marked "for office use only". The user-only parts are hidden by default, and only made visible by entering the password. When you save the file after filling in the user-only parts, the form will still come up showing only the client parts; unless clients know the password they can't see your user-only section.

The limitations: if a client has LiveCycle Designer, they can open the form and check the JavaScript to find out the password, which is stored as plaintext. If they get the password, they can open your user-only parts and see the material you'd prefer they not access. They may even be able to use Acrobat to export data and see the content of your user-only fields. This all assumes your clients really want to see your private data.

As to consolidating text from multiple rows: should definitely be possible, but I have to think about the script involved and test it, as I have limited experience with tables.

Wow thanks for the reply. I think at this point I would like to do the consolidating text option. This is really what they want anyway. Any help with this is appreciated. Would it help if I posted a sample of the form?

Thanks

How can I attach the PDF here? Is there another place I can drop it?

There isn't a file posting service at this site.
If you don't have access to one somewhere, email the file to SLDC.Acrobat - it's a Gmail.com address.
