How to Enable Reader Users to Attach a File on Interactive Form

Hello. I have created a dynamic interactive form using Livecycle Designer 8.2. Back when I was using 8.0, I used to create basic forms. I would then open it up with Acrobat and enable reader rights. Then I would test on Adobe Reader and it would do everything right, including allowing reader users to attach a file.

Now, I'm using Livecycle Designer 8.2 but more an interactive dynamic form. I opened it up on Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and extended features in Adobe Reader. Tested it on Reader version 9.1 and all fields work except that it would not allow any file attachment.

I went back to Acrobat 9 Pro Ext, tried to do it again only this time, I actually took the time to read through the pop up message (which also popped up the first time) and it had a message stating
"The following features will become available for this document when opened in the free Adobe Reader.

- Save form data (for a fillable PDF form only)
- Sign an existing signature field
- Digitally sign the document anywhere on the page (not available for XML forms; only supported in Adobe Reader 8.0 or later)

Note: Security permissions already existing on this document do not allow commenting or signing the document other than signing existing signature fields. Once Reader Enabled, certain functions, such as editing document content or inserting and deleting pages, will also be restricted."

I am not sure why this is the case because I know I did not set any permissions. To confirm, I went back to Livecycle and checked the form properties and under Security, both the checkboxes to restrict opening of file and changing with password were not checked. So it appears that there are not permissions set.

I then went back to Acrobat and clicked on Comments and clicked on Enable for Commenting and Analysis for Adobe Reader and then another message popped up saying that the form is interactive and has special features and is not allowing me to allow commenting on reader.

I'm at my wits end. I've googled and searched for any information but to no avail. I don't know what "special feature" is preventing the commenting to be enabled on reader. Can anyone help me?

Is there a work around?

Thank you in advance for your help.

To enable a XFA-form (dynamic PDF) for attaching files with Adobe Reader, you need LiveCycle Reader Extensions.
This is a very expensive(!!!) server product by Adobe available for LiveCycle ES / ES2.
You can't add this rights with Acrobat Standard or Professional.
