Image Field dpi/resolution

Hi- I am using LiveCycle Designer 8 to make a form. My form has four image fields. When I open the form in acrobat and load images into the image fields and then save the form, the file size balloons.

As an example, my unpopulated form is about 600kb in size and I load four 1MB images into it. When saved the total file size is almost 7MB. Four images at 1MB each plus the 600kb form shouldn't result in a 7MB file.

Is there any way to reduce this? Interestingly, if I insert the same images and Print to pdf(instead of doing a save as), the file size is much smaller (less than 100kb).

Any thoughts? Is there any way to control how images are handled when inserted into the image fields in the form?

Yes, the file will grow by a minimum of the image files you are adding--your form + image file sizes.

When you print, Acrobat applies compression to the graphics.

File Save As... may reduce the file size.
