Images imported into LiveCycle form are resized

I've created a 6-page form using Acrobat 7 LiveCycle. Its size is about 250k. When I import a 56k jpeg photo, the form size expands to more than 1,300k. When I fill out the entire form and add about 15 photos, the file size blows up to more than 40 meg. It won't let me optimize the size because it is includes XML fields. Can anyone tell me why the photos are expanded so dramatically? Thank you.

Check to make sure that the file size increase isn't due to a bug in Designer that inadvertently inserted numerous processing instructions into the form similar to the following format<?templateDesigner StyleID aped3?>. To check, open up the XML source tab in Designer and then search for code similar to that mentioned above. The actually string may be slightly different (i.e., <?templateDesigner StyleID aped2?>).This bug was corrected in the Acrobat 9.1 release.
