Importing and Exporting Data - LiveCycle

Hello Folks.

I'd be grateful if anyone can point me in the correct direction for this question.
I've got a questionaire that can be distributed as normal out to the users, completed, and returned to me. This I get a dataset - all is perfect there.

Now - I'd like to also have this form data exported to an (I want to keep it simple enough for me to understand), Excel file.

The reason is this. Basically it's a HelpDesk type scenario. So if a Call is closed/referred etc this STATUS value will change. But you can't (or at least I cannot see how), open an existing record, change the STATUS (from the 'drop-down' menu, and then pop this UPDATED record back into the dataset.

Thus I'm looking at an Excel type scenario where the data from each helpdesk ticket is put into the Excel file, and can be accessed, via the PDF form, changed etc.....

Now if anyone has an idea how best to go about this I'd really value their knowledge + feedback.
Thanks
Al

I have been having the same problem with what I call a Live form (information requested, received, updated and closed) and a worksheet (Information requested, received, and closed).

PDF do offer the promise of reduced paperwork with on screen views of original forms, dynamic information retrieval but falls short of workflow needed for use of the information.

So for me I have to think of work arounds. Here is what I have found for me where we send out a three page PDF for people to fill out.

Form created in LiveCycle for fill in and retrieval into a data set that can be exported to a spreadsheet.

I take this spreadsheet and created a mail merge in MS Publisher. I tried using Word but Publisher has a much easier updating feature and even a sort feature. This allows for notes, check boxes and can be archived when done as a mail merge file and a collected file of each doc which can be saved with the name of each person as the file name. You also have the spreadsheet for use in other departments and with Publisher you can create one page worksheets for them if needed or just copy the spreadsheet.
