I'm not really sure I should be asking this question here so attribute it to my unfamiliarity...
I'm just getting my feet 'wet' with (trial download) versions of Acrobat Pro 8 and Adobe LiveCycle. I've 'succeeded' in creating a 'live' PDF form, to prove a concept using test fields and test data with matching fields in a MS Access mdb file, which I 'distributed' (sent) to my own email account and to which account I also 'replied'. I see that the resulting email contains an XML file. Being on an equal footing with that fine language as well, meaning hands down unfamiliar, about all I can do is open/create a text file with an XML extension on my desktop into which I paste the selected XML text from the 'returned' email. On the plus side, I managed to easily import the XML data into my test database. However, the thought has crossed my mind that in actual practice, users might find the same process a little 'klugee', so I began to wonder whether there's a way to develop a slicker way than that.
1) Use OLEDB to connect your Designer form to your Access database. See the Designer Help file for details.
2) Ask for help over at the LiveCycle Designer forum at adobe.com. Try:
