Is there a way to set up a form so that a user can insert as many images as he or she wants to and then move those images around within a subform?

My Product Information:
LiveCycle Designer, Windows

Yes and No, You can place an image field in a repeatable subform. So you can add as many as you like to the form, but moving them about is an issue. What exactly do you have in mind?

I have a sales proposal paper that I want to lock down. There is terminology on that proposal that I do not want anyone to remove or copy and paste. Therefore, I put the proposal paper into LiveCycle Designer. When the new version of the proposal went to some salesreps, they complained that they could not put several pictures and/or drawings in the proposal, much less place the pictures where they want them. They said, if they sell several different types of equipment to a customer, they want to be able to picture that type of equipment with the description of that equipment. I am very new to LiveCycle Designer. As a matter of fact, this proposal was my first try with the program.

If you use a regular PDF as the background of the LiveCycle form you will be able to add markup annotations, like a stamp, to it. If you copy an image to the clipboard and then paste it into Acrobat, it shows up as a stamp.

Otherwise you are better off just using a regular PDF. Apply security to it and then enable it with Reader Rights. This will reduce the risk of someone copying text and also allow it to be stamped in Reader.

What do you mean, "use a regular pdf as a background"? Does that mean I should start with a pdf file to create the form? Will the form still be able to grow when I do it this way?

Hi. I too have a question on this topic. Specifically on your statement "......you will be able to add markup annotations, like a stamp, to it."

How do I add markers/stamps to the form so that regular Adobe 8 users (not pro users) will be able to use the stamps/markup? I have a form with a picture and ideally people using the form can place an "x" on top of the applicable area of the picture.

In LiveCycle Designer select the "File > New..." menu. Check the "Import a PDF" radio button. Then select a regular one page PDF file (i.e. not a livecycle form, or any form at all). Next, select "Create an Interactive Form with Fixed Pages". This sequence will create a LiveCycle form that uses a regular PDF file as a background, which means you'll be able to apply many of the regular PDF features to it, including markup annotations and stamps. To use this file in Adobe Reader you'll need to enable it in Acrobat Professional fromt the "Advanced > Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader" menu item. It's got a slightly different name in Acrobat 9.Forms created in this way are by nature Static. They cannot grow. Standard PDF features and dynamic forms are incompatible. You have to choose one or the other.

Using Stamps is an easy way to add all kinds of images to a PDF in any location you want. But you may be able to use the image field on a dynamic form to do something very similar. You'll need an expert to work out the details to see if this can be done.

Thom,

Thank you for the detailed and quick reply. Is there any way to do this for an image which is integrated inside an existing form? I am working on a form which has a picture. Ideally, people completing the form would be able to click on the appropriate area of the picture within the form itself (without adding a separate page.)

Thanks and have a good weekend,
Amy

AmyG, You seemed to have hijacked someone elses thread. Your question is sufficiently different. Please post it to a new thread with a more detail explaination of what it is you want to do.
