Keyboard recognition

I have a dropdown field, where if you select 'other', it hides the dropdown and displays another field to enable you to enter information freeform. However, if you change your mind, I'd like the user to be able to press the ESC key to revert them back to the dropdown selection.

In other words, I'd like the keyboard selection to generate the next action. Is this possible? And if so, can you please suggest how?
Thanks, Peta

Acrobat does not intercept the raw keystrokes. You might consider not hiding the drop down list or providing a button to cleare the 'other' entry and restore the drop down list.
