Everytime I try and start Lifecycle Designer 8 it crashes.
Using Windows XP SP2.

Has anyone seen this. I can't find a solution.

My Product Information:
LiveCycle Designer, Windows

At least on my machine, I can't start LiveCycle Designer itself: I have to start Acrobat and choose to create or edit a form in LCD to get it to start. Have you tried that?

Are you getting any kind of error message?

That fails as well. I get an unhandled exception error in both cases.
I have just uninstalled all Adobe Software and reinstalled it and it still fails.

This happens in very rare circumstances, only on specific machines.

If you are comfortable editing registry keys, try this:
1) Run Regedit
2) navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Designer\8.0
3) Delete the "ToolbarsEN176" folder entirely.
4) Launch Designer

This may solve the problem, at least for the very next time that you launch Designer. Trouble is, you may have to KEEP removing that registry key every time you launch designer. If so... we'd love to work with you to figure out more details about your setup and try to determine what may have caused the problem.

If this doesn't fix the problem - then, I'm not sure what's wrong. I'd suggest uninstalling / reinstalling Designer, and also checking that you're not running an expired trial version of Acrobat.

I hope that helps,
Mike

The registry edit did not help.
The actual key is ToobarsEN169.

I have installed this in a VMWare image with nothing else installed and get the same error. This is very frustrating.

I have finally resolved this problem. I found that after removing the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributables I was able to launch the Designer without a problem. I found I had 2 of these listed in my Add/Remove Programs. I just had to remove 1 of them.

Not sure what program installed it twice but I am all good now.

I've had the same problem of Livecycle Designer crashing. only been able to use it for a few minutes then get the (vista) "stopped working" msg. I've tried several complete reinstalls with 8.1.2 upgrade. only found 1 copy of c++ in add remove programs. not sure what to do.

I had a Vista VMware image that had the same problem and I removed both copies of C++ and it worked. It might be worth the try.

I tried the regedit tip. Seemed to work ok. If not I'll give the C++ a try. (I think Quickbooks program might need C++?.)
