master page question

Hi,

I am trying to add a page to a form that was created from a pdf file. I am working in Acrobat Pro 8.0 with LiveCycle Designer 8.0. My original file was 3 pages but I need to add an additional page.

I am unable to insert a page in LCD. I also cannot access the master pages. When I updated this file once before I used the Replace Artwork function, which worked out fine. But now that I have an extra page it will not let me do that.

I am pretty new to LCD, I guess that is obvious. Why don't I have master pages? Or how do I get to them - the option is greyed out on the menu and there is no Master Pages tab that is referenced in the Help.

Do I need to recreate from scratch?

any advice is greatly appreciated!
Thanks.

The master pages were replaced with background artwork. However, you should still be able to use the "New Page" entry on the right click popup menu in the Hierarchy window.

Thanks for the info. I have tried that, but for some reason the New Page option is greyed out.

Do I need to recreate this whole form from scratch in LCD?

I've taken a look at the Background Artwork feature in LiveCycle. I hadn't really played around with this before. It's quite a bit more restrictive than I originally thought.

When you use a PDF as background artwork the pages are fixed. You cannot add new pages, i.e. new artwork, but you can duplicate an existing page, from the Duplicate option on the "Edit" menu. Basically the background artwork is your master pages.

I had a similar issue, when I added a page it would put it past the scripting objects and think the page was a master page.

You can make a new form quickly. You have only three pages. Start a new form. Go to the form giving you the issue, select the page in hierarchy and go to edit copy. Go to your new form click on the at the top of the hierarchy and paste. Drag the the page from inside the first page and put in position. Do the same with the other page and then use the first page and move that to the position of the page you want to add. If you have script objects add them and your done.

You will not loose your tab order or scripts in your fields. But you will have to put the script objects in.
