Preview mode is not working in LiveCycle Designer 8

I have recently installed Adobe Acrobat Professional 8 on my Windows XP (SP2) machine. I am using LiveCycle Designer 8 to create a dynamic form for use on a website. I am having great difficulty making the Preview mode work so that I can view my work and test it. I have IE 6 and have enabled all the Adobe Add-ons in the Tools > Mange Add-ons menu in IE. I also have the Pop-up blocker turned off. I have restarted my machine a couple times since the install and since the changes were made to enable the Add-ons, yet the Preview mode is still not working. I have also activated Adobe since the install. I have done some research on this website and others and can not find out why it is not working. My current work around is design, save, open up reader, test and repeat. Needless to say I have wasted countless hours doing this. Any help that you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Try this.

Uninstall Reader. Go to the Windows control panel and associate the .pdf file extension to Acrobat.

Eugene,

Thank you for your quick response. I did some more investigating and found out that when I installed Pro 8 it uninstalled my Adobe Reader 7. Because of that, the preview mode did not work. So I re-installed Reader 7 and got the preview mode to work. Unfortunately now when I start up Pro 8, it opens up Reader 7, but not all the time. This happens randomly. I double checked the path for the programs and everything looks ok. What I'm going to do is follow your advice and uninstall Reader and do the file association. Thank you again for the information and the quick response. This website is a valuable tool for trouble shooting and problem solving.
