Radio Button on Converted PDF

Using Live Cycle Designer, I have converted a pdf file (a form originally made in InDesign and exported to pdf) into an interactive form. After the conversion, I am making a few changes/cleanup to the form. When I drag a radio button or check box into the form in LiveCycle, I do not get a caption with either object. On a new blank form, the buttons come in correctly.

On a converted pdf (existing file), why are these objects not coming in properly?

Thanks.

I hope I am not being too simplistic, but I would suggest that you go to the Layout Library (Window - Layout or Shift F9) and at the bottom, under "Caption" change the "Position" from "None" to whichever you want, Top, Right, Left or Bottom.

Actually, the caption option under Layout is greyed out.

For some reason on a converted pdf (From Acrobat 8, Forms, Create New Form, Start with Electronic Document, Run Auto-Detection), the radio buttons just come in with a circle and no caption. Same thing happens with checkboxes.

The Auto-detection auto detects what it thinks should be field jobects. However, when I try to clean it up and add a check box, it comes in without a caption. The radio button also drags over, but does not have a caption.

The radio buttons and checkboxes work perfectly on a new blank form. Something is happening during the auto-detection from an exisiting pdf document.

Have you tried changing the radio box into a different field type and then changing it back to radio?

Just a idea....

Thanks for the effort, but changing it to a different type field and then back to a radio button, did not work. Other ideas???

Hi,

I have just found the same problem when trying to convert an existing Acrobat .pdf file to use in LiveCycle Designer - None of the fields, including the TextFields would allow a caption. The file was wholly blank except that it had my address at its head, and an appropriate statement at its foot. It had no existing fields on it at all.

I got a message, which I did not record, but which was something to the effect that LiveCycle Designer could not work with a picture.

I wonder whether this is an intentional design feature?

The only way I could get the captions was to start the form exclusively in LiveCycle Designer and re-insert the header and footer information.
