Hey all,

Ive completed a dynamic form which works great on the back end... but I am having text formatting issues and wondering if anyone else has come across this:

The static text fields are laid out (all in one subform) and appear correctly when I test it (whether it's in Acro Pro or Acro Reader); however, when someone else opens the file (whether its in Acro Reader or Standard, either 8 or 9), the same text does not appear correctly (line formatting is off, sometimes the text overflowing, etc.) The subform content setting is positioned and, outside of the paragraph formatting, there's nothing special about these particular objects (no coding direct or indirect coding).

Is there something I am missing? Any help with this would greatly be appreciated!

LiveCycle Designer, Windows

Check if the used fonts are embedded into your form (File > Form Properties).
If not, and the used font is not available on another users system then PDF-Viewer uses another font with a similar look.
This can work, but it also can cause garbled texts.

The "Embed Fonts" check box is selected, but there is an caution icon, stating "These options apply only when saving form designs as PDF files. They do not apply to PDF files rendered using LiveCycle Forms ES." Could this advisory have any bearing on the situation?

No, LiveCycle Forms ES is a server product which can use the xdp files you also can create with Designer.
But this has nothing do to with your problem.

Another thing may be the "target version" you select for your form.
If it is set to "Acrobat and Adobe Reader 9.1" for example and the form is opened in Reader 8.0, there is a compatibility problem.
The PDF-Viewer will try to display the form as good as it can, but it's not guaranteed that everything is always rendered correctly.

Here another statement regarding this topic.

Sorry I havent been able to respond till now...

That works, Radzmar! I think the others involved with this project will probably want to keep the ability of lower versions to use it.

Either way, this is good to know. Thank you, sir!
