Rotate text in cell

Answered

I am about ready to throw my computer out the window because this should be simple...I followed the instructions in the Help menu, and can't get it to work. It seems like I must be missing something here.

I want the text in a table to rotate 90 degrees so it is vertical. The help menu says to select the cell and click one of the four Rotate buttons in the Layout palette. I have done this and it is not working for me.

If it matters, I am working on a Subform that is flowing to the next page.

I have Version 8.05

Thanks in advance for any help.

It looks like you can't rotate a field inside a table cell. But you can draw a field out side the table and rotate it then drag it to the cell in the table. Make sure the field is away from the edge of the content area so you don't get the error message that says the field can't be rotated because it would cause the field to go off the page.

Well, I don't see an option to check a Check Spelling box in my palettes. (I'm in Designer.)

I tested the spell check in Reader while completing the form and it's not working. I had a similar problem in Acrobat once but then I figured out I have to check that Check Spelling checkbox in the Properties. Can't find it here though. Can you help me?

Also, is there a way for users to save information to these forms that were designed in Designer? Or is this only Acrobat? Thanks so much!!!

What version of Designer are you working in? I'm working with version 8.0 and up in the Tools menu there is a Check Spelling menu item.

Users can save data entered in forms produced with Designer when they open the form in Acrobat even in the free Adobe Reader providing the form has been reader enabled which can only be done in version 8.

I other words say you have a form you design in LiveCycle Designer and save it as a PDF. When you open the form in Acrobat Standard or Professional you will be able to enter data in the fields and save the form with data. If you open the same form in Adobe Reader you will be able to enter data in the fields but will not be able to save the data unless the form has been reader enabled.

Yes, that option is in my Tools menu, but it seems to only check my own spelling. When I tried testing the form in Reader, the Check Spelling feature wouldn't recognize any mistakes. I don't need to check MY spelling, I need it to check the spelling of whoever is completing the form.

I have version 8.

So on the saving PDFs topic, I thought if I created a form in Designer, it was exclusively a Designer form, not to be tampered with in Acrobat. Is that not true?

I know how to enable usage rights in Acrobat, and turn on the spell check feature...should I open my form in Acrobat that I created in Designer to do this?

Thank you so much for all your help!!

I see now. I know in Acrobat you can specify that a field can perform spell check in a field in the Options tab of the field properties dialog but I don't see anything like that in Designer field properties.

Yes you are right. You can only edit a Designer form in Designer.

Yes you can open the Designer form in Acrobat and enable usage rights there. I believe you can also do this within Designer by choosing Distribute Form in the File menu. I haven't done this recently but I think it will reader enable the form. There needs to be a Submit button in the form.

Ok, so I think I finally got it.

I opened my finished form (created in Designer) in Acrobat 8, and enabled Usage Rights. When I tested it in Reader 8, the spell check worked beautifully. It might take me a few tries to get this down pat, but for now, it's working great! Thanks for ALL your help!!!!! =)
