How can I define a textfield font size property to auto. The goal is to have the text shrink if needed. Thx

You can try "0" that is used in Acrobat JavaScript, or set a field's text size to "Auto" and then create an alert message to display the field's text font size.

Thank you. But LCD has no 'auto' selection for the font size. I guess what you are referring to is a feature of Acrobat, not the LiveCycle Designer.

Well, did you try the zero font size any way?

But there maybe a better way Expanding to Fit the Entire Value. This article discusses setting the font size to zero and setting the fields minimum (minW) and maximum (maxW) widths.

The "0" size does not work as it jumps to the default size 10. The other solution does not work either as the textfield overlaps with the adjacent field when the input has more characters.

I have also posted another question on this forum with no reply so far. The other question is how in LiveCycle Designer the default font type and size can be changed. It is easy with Acrobat, but with LCD I have not been able to figure it out yet.

Thank you

There is a suggestion for how to change the default font type in Designer in the following post:

Also, there is a tip on how to create the auto font size in LiveCycle in the following blog at:

I have found the above replys very helpful.

Is there any way to set a maximum size while doing this? Because of the varying sizes of my text fields, some end up with a 6pt font while others end up with a 24pt font. I would like to set it at 8pt but make it smaller if necessary.

I have set my text fields to have a font size of 0 so the font shrinks as the end-user types in the field. Is there a way to change it so that there is a minimum size the font can shrink? Sometimes the print is so small it's difficult to read.
