3rd Party Plugins Won't Load

Acrobat Pro 9.4.2 for Windows on Windows XP Pro.

It seems that 3rd party plugins won't load. What's weird is that Acrobat is seeing these plugins in the splash dialog that appears during Acrobat startup but they don't appear where they should after Acrobat has finished launching. It gets weirder. In looking under the Help menu, I do NOT see an option for "About Third-Party Plug-ins".

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Acrobat (choosing a typical installation) and that didn't help. I also verified that "Use only certified plug-ins" was unchecked.

This should be a simple fix but I am at a loss at this point. Any ideas???

TIA,
Jon

Acrobat 9.4.2 is having loads of problems. Do a google search. If you can roll back to a previous version then do it.

After uninstalling and reinstalling Acrobat, I was at version 9.3.0. This issue occurred with 9.3.0 as well so it doesn't seem to be an issue specific with 9.4.2.

One thing I would like to add is that a colleague has these plugins running just fine on her PC (save Acrobat flavor and version and OS) so I know these plugins work.

Thanks,
Jon

If the issues is not specific to 9.4.2, then you have a more general problem. There is something about your system that Acrobat does not like. If they are being displayed in the splash, then Acrobat is going through the process of attempting to load them, but then dropping out before the process is complete. Is there anything unusual about your setup? It could be that one plug-in is messing it up. I would suggest removing all 3rd party plug-ins from plug-in folder. And then putting one of them back in. See what you get.

Otherwise it is very difficult to get a handle on what's going on.
