Acrobat 6 pro from auto launching

i'm using adobe 6.0 pro and adobe reader 8. How do stop Acrobat 6 pro from lauching if all i want to do is open a pdf file w/reader 8? I know i can use open w/adobe 8 but i am interested in making reader 8 as my primary default reader instead of the massive 6 pro loading every time when just wanting to view a pdf file...thanks!

This can be controlled by the Windows or Mac operating system ..
Windows - right click / properties / change the default application to Adobe Reader 8
Mac - control/right click / get info / open with / change the default application
