Acrobat 8 vs Acrobat 9

Is there a site or document where I can find out what's new in Acrobat 9 Standard & Pro versus Acrobat 8 Standard & Pro?

The "What's New in 9" video at adobe.com only highlights 9 Pro Extended. I'm trying to evaluate what an upgrade would give me in Pro & Standard.

Other software sites will often give charts like "What is improved, What is New" when they release new versions. Info like that is important in deciding if the new version gives value for what you're doing with Acrobat.

I've tried to find this at adobe.com, but can't.

TIA for any help.

David

Hi David,

I don't know of anything that directly compares version 8 to 9 but here are a few docs that compare version 9 Standard and Pro and links to What's new in 9.

Product matrix for Acrobat 9
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/matrix.php

What's new in Acrobat 9 Pro
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Acrobat/9.0/Professional/WS00E809B7-1119-4416-8731-033B20B684B3.w.php

What's new in Acrobat 9 Standard
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Acrobat/9.0/Standard/WS00E809B7-1119-4416-8731-033B20B684B3.w.php

If you post a specirfic question on functionality you want/need someone here can probably tell you which version supplies that functionality.

Hope this helps,

Dimitri

Thanks, Dimitri. This is helpful, though limited, as you say.

For example, on the 9 Pro link they say document comparison is "new", but it's not. It was in 8 Pro, too, wasn't it? A little misleading, I think. I've seen forum posts that the results of comparisons in 8 vs 9 are different, so maybe it's just an "improved" feature, not brand new.

Appreciate your answer. Maybe others will comment further.

Just a thought here.
Perhaps a comparison of the PDF Reference for version 1.7,
the Adobe Extensions to the PDF Specification, and the Adobe
Supplement ISO 32000, BaseVersion 1.7, ExtensionLevel3
would provide grist for the mill.

Not a light read but likely to identify a number of items that are
new or different.

Be well...
