Acrobat 8.0 search

Every time I try to use advanced search to search an index in 8.0 professional, I get an error message and the program shuts down. The error message is The instruction at "0x2d88727b" referenced memory at "0x00000008" could not be "read".

Try downloading the 8.1 patch from Adobe and upgrade Acrobat to the newest version.

I neglected to mention the most troublesome files I am dealing with have password security settings. I downloaded the update, and the error continues to occur, but without the message. The program simply closes.
