Acrobat 8.1 - Scanning

I installed CS3 Design Premium this weekend and Acrobat seems to run fine. This morning Adobe did a lot of upgrades to all programs, tonight I went to scan some documents into Acrobat and when the" Acrobat Scan" window appears, the "Scanner Options" button is dimmed out. I've tried several times to hit the down arrow at the right of the scanner option which says: "Please select a device", and get the Microsoft window which is labeled "Adobe Acrobat 8.1" with the message "Adobe Acrobat 8.1 has encountered a problem and needs to close". The option is to notify Microsoft and when you do Acrobat closes.

Does anybody know what's going on?

Some more information. This morning Acrobat still won't import from the scanner; however, Photoshop CS3 will import the documents from the scanner, Acrobat 8.1 and Photoshop CS3 are included within the same CS3 Design Premium CD. For now I am able to scan into Photoshop, save as a PDF, then Acrobat will open the folder containing the PDF documents.

That tells me it's got to be some setting in Acrobat and the problem is unrelated to drivers.

For those interested, I resolved my problem by calling Adobe support, support was in English and immediately identified my problem as a conflict in the Start Up menu, we disabled the culprit and everything is working fine now.
