Just wondering if the Adobe Acrobat 9 Classroom in a Book is a good one to help prepare for the ACE exam for Acrobat.

Hi,

ClassRoom in a Book is a good start.
A Tip - do read the content in the working files.
You may see some questions that relate to it.
(such was the case on the FM ACE examine back when...)

The Adobe/Element K online classes could be useful.
Use the "Online Training" link at -
http://www.adobe.com/training/
to see what is there.

Ted Pedova's and Donna Baker's books are good resources.
Anything from Thom Parker, for adobe javascript, would be good.

Go to this Adobe web page -
http://www.adobe.com/education/resources/k12/instructional/acrobat.php
Scroll to page bottom.
Download the PDF and resource (zip) file for
Adobe Acrobat 8 curriculum guide.

Yes. your goal is 9. However, while much is new in "9",
much is still "8" (so to speak).

You may already have the Prep Guide.
If not, go here -
http://partners.adobe.com/public/ace/main.php
Download what you need.

Consider building a reference library of all things "Acrobat".
At some point (pre- or post- certification) you'll use it.

Thanks. This is the first decent and most helpful response I have had all day. I do have the Prep Guide and have looked into some of the Element K offerings. In fact the company is supposed to have the Acrobat 9 training materials on our intranet training site but none of it works. I have sent feedback that it doesn't work yet so we shall see. I believe it is Element K stuff. I also have the Acrobat 9 PDF Bible.

Could you clarify what you mean when you say,

A Tip - do read the content in the working files.

I'm not sure I understand.

Again thanks for the tips and info it is most appreciated.

I've gone through CIBs for a number of versions of both FM and Acrobat (& still loop back through them and other references as there are aspects of FM and Acrobat that I do not use too often). When I took the certification exam for FrameMaker I noted that there were some questions
on the topics that were the actual content of the exercise work files associated with
the FM CIB. So, I look at any CIB exercise file's actual content material as something
that "is subject to test and quiz" .The more information resoures you harvest and become familiar with the better understanding becomes. DevNet, Blogs, TechNotes, SDK documents, PDF version documents, Help file, tips, tutorials, the wealth of "how-to" information in Adobe's Education space, pdfscripting.com (and other non-Adobe resources) all support this.

The certification exam then becomes a marker on the journey and not the end game.
