Hello ,

I have many old files which I have kept for my reference created by Acrobat 6 or 7, many of then I got from internet and are very useful to me. I keep a backup of them on other disc for fail safe.

Because of recent crash I had to reinstall windows XP on my machine. But when I try to open those old pdf file with my Acrobat 9.3 it does not work. it comes up with a message

"Acrobat reader could not open the file 'MyBook.pdf' because it is either not a supported file or because the file has been damaged"

Please can any of you help me as these files are really important to me and I have tried some PDF repair software as well, without any luck.

Thanks in advance,
Jack

It sounds like the files were corrupted when your comptuer crashed. Either that, or your installation of Reader is corrupted.

I don't think my files were open at the time of crash , as its reader and second thing is the files are all in D drive so getting the corruption is doubtful.
However I have installed Acrobat Reader from the site itself and every other docs except those old docs are opening well.
